Thanks to the generosity and vision of Henry Dyer Moore and his sister Vida Moore, The Parish House and Library has an endowment that helps cover a part of the organization's annual operating costs. However, over the years as the Library has increased its hours of operation and the resources and services it provides to the community, and as the basic costs of operation such as heating, electricity, insurance, etc. have skyrocketed, the organization's budget has grown faster than the support our endowment provides.

Thus, the Board has decided to embark on a campaign we are calling "Moore for the Future", to double our endowment in order to help secure the long-term sustainability of the organization. We are currently in the midst of the campaign, which we officially launched in the summer of 2014. We need your help and support now. In addition to seeking donations to help secure the future of our Library and Community Center, we are looking for folks willing to join the endowment committee to help plan and carryout the campaign.

If you are willing to either lend a hand or then please contact us using the form below.

To make a truly lasting gift for your community,, simply mail a check, with note that it is for the endowment campaign, to:

Treasurer, Henry D. Moore Parish House and Library, PO Box 127, Steuben, ME 04680.

We will respond promptly with a thank you letter acknowledging the gift which will also serve as a record for tax purposes if needed. The Henry D. Moore Parish House and Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed under Internal Revenue Service guidelines.

If you are interesting in including the H.D. Moore Library and Community Center in your estate plans, or would like to pursue other mutually advantageous planned-giving options such as setting up a charitable remainder trust, please contact Keith Goldfarb at 207-546-2306 or kgoldfarb@hotmail.com to discuss your wishes.

We are now entering the home stretch in this multi-year $250,000 campaign! To ensure that we keep the momentum going for a timely successful completion of our goal by the end of 2017, your contribution now will make a big difference. So join us in securing the future of this historic community institution.

FIRST— A big thank you goes to all you donors who gave to the $10,000 challenge match offered in June. We met the match last week, through the generous donations of patrons and friends, bringing us $20,000 closer to our $250,000 goal. The Moore for the Future endowment fund now stands at $215,000.

SECOND— A $5000 one-to-one “Business” challengematch has been offered by a donor fund at the Maine Community Foundation to all local and regional businesses, large and small, which when met will add $10,000 to the fund.

THIRD— A very generous $10,000 dollar-for-dollar challenge match has been offered by two library patrons to all who use and value this community center for the excellent library and the many programs and activities the library and community center offer, such as concerts, family movies, suppers, talks, crafts, and much more. When met the two matches will bring us within $5000 of our goal. This is our “To the Top” challenge.
